Yesterday (February 1st, 2023), Microsoft published a blog outlining certification changes. I won’t regurgitate the entire blog post; you can read it here:

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-learn-blog/evolving-microsoft-365-certifications-help-keep-you-in-sync-with/ba-p/3719265

To summarize the blog post, though:

  • The Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate certification will rename to Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate.
  • The Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certification will rename to Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.
  • The Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Expert certification will get replaced with the new Microsoft 365 Certified: Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate.
  • Microsoft is retiring two certifications, Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Application Developer Associate (MS-600) and Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate (MS-500).

It is great to see two exams merged into a single and replaced with newer exams.

MD-100 Windows Client and MD-101 Managing Modern Desktops will combine to become MD-102 Endpoint Administrator

MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services and MS-101 Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security will combine to become MS-102 Microsoft 365 Administrator

MS-720 Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer will replace with MS-721 Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer

Certification changes like this can be challenging because many of you have only recently passed many of the now-retiring or replacing exams; however, it is necessary to ensure the most up-to-date content is covered and the certification path matches the best approach for what we need.
